Thanks to the Nashville Cat Rescue for taking in a homeless kitty found by my sister-in-law. I contacted many other organizations, and all said they didn't have any room. However, Kim with Nashville Cat Rescue called around until she could find a foster mom. Thanks, Kim!
Another thing I love about Nashville Cat Rescue is that they take particular care with special needs cats. Kitties that other shelters would deem "unadoptable" finds homes through the care of this awesome organization.
You can see cats from the Nashville Cat Rescue at the 100 Oaks and Cool Springs Petsmarts in the Nashville area. A few times a year the shelter holds special needs adoption days, when you can find kitties that are blind, diabetic, or FIV-positive who will be grateful for a forever home.
If you have enough felines in your home and heart already but would like to support this awesome organization, you can donate by going to Network for Good.

Forward Motion
One of the radio commentators for the Preds/Flames game tonight suggested that Nashville try using Vokoun as a forward this evening. Fun idea -- as the commentator pointed out, Vokoun always comes out of his net to play the puck anyway, so why not?
We are suffering a serious lack of forwards at the moment, so we're definitely seeing some odd combinations these days. Tootoo is out with his suspension, and Sullivan, Hartnell, Nichol, and Erat all are hurt.
Alas.

FIRED
If you are a Nashville Predators "fan" who left early toward the end of our home game against Detroit on Tuesday night, you are fired.
I mean, come on, people -- so Detroit scored and we were down by 2 goals with 5 minutes left. That is not a hopeless situation! We have one of the best teams in the league. Have some faith!
But when our Preds see their own fans streaming out of the building, do you think that energizes them to beat the Wings? Huh? Huh?
I don't think so.

Of Art and Ice Cream . . .
I had a blast hangin' out with my friend Aemilia in Five Points on Saturday. First we stopped at Batter'd & Fried for a tasty lunch. Then we walked to Art & Invention to take a look at their latest show, paintings by Duy Huynh. I love this guy's work . . . if the paintings weren't priced around $3000 each, I would have them all over my house. Another highlight of the Art & Invention visit was seeing all the crafts, paintings, and sculptures available from local artists.
Next Em and I walked up to V and Pied Piper Creamery. This was my first trip to Pied Piper since it opened, and I was ready for some ice cream. I was planning on getting cookies and cream, but I decided to try a spoonful of Trailer Trash because I had heard rave reviews about it. I ended up buying a whole cone of it. My hubby is a vanilla fan, so I took some Vanilla Ice Ice Baby home to him. He gave it his homemade ice cream seal of approval.
I also got to try another Pied Piper flavor on Sunday . . . Paul and I went to Batter'd & Fried to watch the Predators game, and they had made some yummy additions to their dessert menu -- crème brûlée and German Chocolate ice cream from Pied Piper. The ice cream tasted just like a German chocolate cake, except cold. Thanks to Matt and Josef for adding it to the menu.

Arachniphobia?
[Sigh . . . ]
I seem to be developing a fear of spiders. Normally, creepy-crawlies don't bother me, unless I find them crawling on me when I am trying to finish a research project. Then I will showcase my operatic training with an ear-shattering scream.
But I digress . . . generally, spiders are okay with me. Outdoors, they can be wherever they want to be. Indoors, I reserve the right to squish them when necessary.
But lately, seeing spideys inside the house give me the shivers. This morning, I saw one in the kitchen sink. The kitchen sink! Why was there a spider in the kitchen sink?! (Yes, I know that is a fairly normal place for spiders to be, but not in MY kitchen sink . . .)
Even after I had disposed of the ill-fated arachnid, I was nauseated and out-of breath, not to mention jumpy at the thought that more spiders might be crawling up my legs at any moment . . .
