Sew Retro

I found a gem this weekend digging in the free bin at McKay's.

I already love the Better Homes & Gardens cookbook; it's been invaluable as I try to figure out how to cook, how long veggies stay fresh, and how to substitute when I'm missing ingredients.

I know even less about sewing than I do cooking, so I figure I could use a guide like this to illustrate alterations, working with patterns, etc. Plus, I just can't resist the retro-fabulousness of it all, especially when it's free.

Dear You

To the person who threw a Burger King cup in my yard,

You forgot to peel the Indiana Jones thingies off your cup. You know, the sweepstakes thingies. So I'm going to use them.

I hope I win a million dollars and you read about it on the internet. And then you will know that crime does not pay.

Sincerely,
Me

Something to Blog About

Haven't felt like blogging much lately. I think that means it's time for a meme. 'Cause it will stimulate my creativity and writing skills. Or something.

Amy tagged me for this on Facebook a few days ago, so I'll give it a shot.

i am: grumpy
i think: and then grow tired of thinking
i know: that my Redeemer liveth (you have to sing that as you read it...)
i want: success for my business
i have: a really, really cool life, although I don't feel like it at the moment
i wish: i could simplify and live with less possessions
i hate: eating fish
i miss: my friends in Atlanta
i fear: flying
i feel: listless and passionate at the same time
i hear: Paul watching I Am Legend downstairs
i smell: nothing because my allergies are bad
i crave: chocolate
i search: for my MP3 player because I misplace it almost everydat
i wonder: about God's timing
i regret: not having more fun in college
i love: my friends and family
i ache: because of Eve's curse
i care: about animals
i always: late
i am not: able to think of an answer for this questions. Oops, I guess I just did.
i believe: with my heart and my head, but it's hard to get those two coordinated sometimes.
i dance: to techno music while cleaning the house.
i sing: jazz
i don't always: know what i am feeling
i fight: to be myself
i write: but never finish
i win: the prize. you can have it, though. I already have one.
i lose: pens, important pieces of paper, and fantasy hockey games.
i never: am satisfied with a day's work.
i confuse: my accomplishments with my value.
i listen: to music, but not advice.
i can usually be found: typing on the computer.
i am scared: of flying to texas in a couple of weeks and leaving my animals.
i need: God's mercy and love.
i am happy about: the fact that I am not in charge of the universe. and that I am learning to skate.

you?

About those Preds....

So, are you planning to buy season tickets for the Predators next year? You were? Oh, good! Can you do me a favor?

If you are going to buy new season tickets next year, and the crazy hockey musings from Paul or me have inspired you, we would love it if you would give us a referral.

You see, if someone buys a partial season ticket package for next year, like a 13-game pack, we get $100 added to our Preds account! So, in theory, if we got 5 people to buy 13-game packs, that would more than cover the cost of our tickets. (We get $200 when someone buys a full season ticket package, and I think we get credit when someone buys group tickets.)

Pretty cool, eh?

I think this is an awesome thing to do for fans, and it's a great way for the Preds to increase their attendance.

Even if you aren't sure you can buy tickets next year, give our ticket rep a call and find out about the different packages available. You might be surprised by some of the affordable options available.

Here's our ticket rep's info:

Okay, thanks for listening!
